The challenge: a unique wellness space with no digital presence

Yoga Clio is a wellness studio in Barcelona’s Horta-Guinardo neighborhood, led by Clio Byrne, a certified instructor with over 500 hours of Yoga Alliance training and a master’s degree in Music Therapy. Her offering is distinctive: she combines hatha yoga classes, specialized grief yoga, piano and singing lessons, sound therapy, and retreats. It’s a holistic approach that integrates body, mind, and sound.

Despite the quality and uniqueness of her offering, Yoga Clio’s digital presence was minimal. The previous website was basic and failed to communicate the depth of services or Clio’s credentials. When someone searched for “yoga in Horta-Guinardo” or “grief yoga Barcelona,” the studio didn’t appear in the results. Acquiring new students relied exclusively on word of mouth and neighborhood flyers.

The goal was to position Yoga Clio as the go-to wellness space in Horta-Guinardo, clearly communicate the distinctive offering, and generate class bookings directly from the website.

Our approach: conveying authenticity and capturing local wellness searches

Phase 1 — Website redesign reflecting the studio’s essence

The new website design needed to convey calm, professionalism, and warmth. We worked with a soft color palette and elegant typography that evoked the studio’s atmosphere. Each section was designed to guide visitors from discovery to booking their first class.

We created specific pages for each service: hatha yoga (with different levels and schedules), grief yoga (explaining the methodology and who it’s designed for), piano and singing lessons, sound therapy with Tibetan bowls, and retreats. Each page included a detailed description, benefits, Clio’s supporting credentials, and a direct booking system.

The page about Clio Byrne was designed as the central trust element. Her 500-hour Yoga Alliance certification, master’s in Music Therapy, and experience were presented so visitors could immediately understand they were looking at a qualified professional. We implemented Person schema to reinforce E-E-A-T signals for Google.

Phase 2 — Local SEO for Horta-Guinardo and Barcelona

The local SEO strategy targeted hyperlocal searches within the neighborhood and district. We optimized pages with keywords like “yoga Horta-Guinardo,” “yoga classes Barcelona,” “grief yoga Barcelona,” “sound therapy Barcelona,” and “music therapy Barcelona.”

The Google Business Profile was completed with all services, class schedules, studio photographs, and weekly posts with wellness content. We activated the booking and direct messaging features to reduce friction between search and first class.

We built citations across yoga and wellness directories, Barcelona activity portals, and Horta-Guinardo neighborhood directories. Every NAP citation was verified to maintain consistency across all sources.

Phase 3 — Specialized content and editorial management

Yoga Clio’s differentiator is its holistic approach and specialization in grief yoga — a niche with little digital competition but real and growing demand. We developed content that positioned Clio as an authority on this topic: articles about the benefits of yoga in grief processes, how sound therapy complements yoga practice, and the relationship between music therapy and emotional wellbeing.

This content attracted qualified informational traffic and established the site’s topical authority. Many visitors who arrived searching for information about yoga and grief ended up booking a class or reaching out for a sound therapy session.

We implemented LocalBusiness and HealthAndBeautyBusiness schema with complete structured data to improve visibility in local search results.

Results after 7 months

Organic traffic quadrupled, growing from 180 to 720 monthly visits. Class bookings through the website rose from 8 to 34 per month. The Google listing reached the top 3 of the Local Pack for yoga searches in Horta-Guinardo and for specialized queries like “grief yoga Barcelona” and “sound therapy Barcelona.”

Google reviews grew from 9 at 4.5 stars to 42 at 4.9 stars, consolidating the studio’s online reputation. New students mentioned having found Yoga Clio through Google searches, confirming the digital strategy was working.

The most valuable outcome was that Clio could spend less time on active student acquisition and more on what she’s truly passionate about: teaching yoga, guiding grief processes, and creating sound wellness experiences for her students.

Before, my students came only through personal recommendations. Now people searching for yoga in Horta or sound therapy in Barcelona find me directly on Google. The website reflects exactly what I offer.
